Welcome to Diablo Valley College. In the past two years that I have been at DVC, I have come to know a college with incredible strength and heart.
We recently evaluated our college mission statement and have crafted a “pocket mission;” this is a greatly abbreviated version of what the California Education Code requires of a California Community College. This statement serves as an overview of how this outstanding institution meets the needs of our students and our community; it sums up the “heart” of the people who make up this exceptional community of educators.
DVC is passionately committed to student learning through the intellectual, scientific, artistic, psychological, and ethical development of its diverse student body. DVC prepares students for transfer to four-year universities; provides career/technical education; supports the economic development of the region; offers pre-collegiate programs; and promotes personal growth and lifelong learning.
No matter where your interests lie and what your desires are, we are here to serve you and are committed to you reaching those goals. As I visit the communities we serve, I hear story after story about students who have been at DVC and how this institution provided a foundation for them to fulfill their needs. I have witnessed the “heart” of the college in action, and have seen the faculty and staff work tirelessly and with a singleness of purpose, to help our students reach their goals. The college faculty, staff, and administration is working together to make this vibrant institution an even better place for students to begin their educational journey.
Diablo Valley College is an exciting place to be, and this is an exciting time to be here.
